Sustainability in the maritime sector highlighted in a DBAV/Tomorrow is Green seminar in Hai Phong

Over 50 stakeholders in Hai Phong have been connected on the topic of sustainability in the maritime sector. Best practices of Dutch and Vietnamese private sector show that much has already been achieved and that hands-on solutions are available. Stakeholders from the international and Vietnamese private sector, government representatives and knowledge institutions shared views and experiences on how to contribute to a greener tomorrow. Awareness has been created that sustainability is everybody’s responsibility and often includes sensible measures that create broad benefits to People, Planet and Profit.

Dutch companies Damen Song Cam and Winel Vietnam showcased their efforts and results to inspire the audience in hands-on measures that contribute to sustainability. Vietnamese stakeholders like Pha Rung Shipyard and the Vietnam Maritime University also contributed their experiences. As stated by one participant: ‘…being compliant towards higher sustainability standards will not only increase the performance of the company, also new opportunities will arise in markets that greatly value sustainability…’

This seminar is part of the “Tomorrow is Green” campaign initiated by the Dutch Embassy in Vietnam. The campaign calls for joint solutions for a sustainable and prosperous future.
